Happy 4th Birthday Vaughn!

August 2, 2009

Today Vaughn turned 4 and I know he has been looking forward to his birthday. I didn't tell him his birthday was coming because he would have been asking me about it for days on end. We also didn't tell him he was going to see Mickey Mouse either, but I also knew he had no concept of what the Magic Kingdom was to fully appreciate where we were going.

We all got up early and got ready, had breakfast and then I had Vaughn open his gift from us. We got him the Leapster handheld so he could play with it on the way up to Orlando and a Backyardigans game. He was so excited! As a joke, I also gave him some new socks. One day I had briefly mentioned I needed to get him new socks and then he would ask me where his new socks were almost every day! His expression was hilarious when he pulled the socks out of the bag, I love that Justin captured it.

Kyra was very interested in his new toys. The night before we had dinner with Granddaddy, Alaina, and Great Uncle David. They had given him an assortment of goodies but Kyra really liked the matchbox cars. Justin says, "How do you spell tomboy? M-A-T-C-H-B-O-X. I got a chuckle out of this.

Once the presents were opened, we headed to the Magic Kingdom. Aunt Betty was nice enough to keep Kyra so we didn't have to drag a stroller all over the Magic Kingdom.

Once we got our tickets at Will-Call, we entered the park. I had then told Vaughn we were going to see Mickey and he wanted to go there right away!

We walked through Main Street and stopped first in Tomorrowland. Here, Vaughn met Buzz Lightyear. I made sure to get him an autograph book and pen. He was so excited to meet him!

We stopped for beverages and Turkey Leg, then off to the Tomorrowland Speedway. Vaughn drove the car while I stepped on the pedal. He wanted to do that one again, and I had to convince him that he had to stand in line again and that he couldn't just stay in the car and take another turn.

We then walked over to Fantasyland and took a spin on the Dumbo ride. I thought he would be a little freaked about the height, but that part didn't seem to bother him at all. I was very proud of him.

We also rode the carousel and Vaughn made his effort to get the Sword from the Sword and the Stone. No luck, but I think he gave it his best effort!

As we were walking around, all of a sudden we see Tigger and Pooh walking towards Pooh's Playful Spot. So Vaughn and I rushed over there and waited. He tried his best to be patient, not understanding that all the kids in front of us had to go first. When we got a little closer, Vaughn would shout "Pooh Bear, Tigger, I'm over here!"

We made it into to Mickey's Toon Town Fair in search for Mickey and Minnie. While in search for Mickey, Vaughn saw Goofy's Barnstormers (which is a roller coaster). He said he wanted to go on it so he and I waited in line. When we get on the ride he was fine with the assent but once we started going down, he said, "Mommy, I don't want this!" Unfortunately he had to wait until it was over. He definitely did NOT want to do that ride again!

We finally find Mickey and Minnie. Lighting in this room is bright and off so I don't care for the pictures we took but he is still pretty cute!

So in the end, we walked him from one end of the park to the other until complete foot exhaustion. We were all ready to go home and everyone had a good day.

We love you Vaughn!

What a fantastic day! He looked like he had a great time. I don't blame you for not telling him about his birthday coming up. We haven't told our kids we're going to DisneyWorld for the exact same reason! We'll be there in a week!! Feel free to come visit. :)
