Happy Father's Day

June 20, 2010

Today is Father's Day, but unfortunately Justin has to work. So we did not plan on anything special, but the kids were very excited to give Daddy their cards. Vaughn was up extra early this morning and sat in Daddy's lap while Mommy tried to get a few extra minutes of sleep. He was telling J all about the card he got for him, which amused me. "Daddy, I got you a Superman card, it's cool!"

That night, it was chicken nuggets for dinner (especially because I didn't realize how late it had gotten). Vaughn tells me that he is going to eat his chicken "really fast!", which I thought was weird, but went out to throw the clothes from the washer to the dryer. When I got back in, he tells me he is all done. There is no way, I was not out there that long and he just had this goofy look on his face so I began to question him.

"Vaughn, did you eat all that chicken?"

"Yeah"

"You did?"

"Yes!"

"So I'm not going to smell chicken nuggets on Kahlua's breath?"

At this point, the look on his face was 'you can do that?' and he then told me after questioning him again, that he fed it to her.

Naturally, I am now livid for the lying and the fact that he fed food - that he LIKED to the dog. UNREAL.

He got a stern talking to from me and Justin and then went to bed. Some days I don't know what I am going to do with him.

This is a great story. I love the looks they give when they realize we aren't as dumb as they think. I dread the day when they really DO learn how to lie.
