Mascara and old friends

August 15, 2010

Today we had a big day planned. I was so happy to spend time with my BFF and Vaughn was very excited to meet Marcia's boys. Vaughn really took to Nathan from first introduction and immediately wanted to play with all of their "cool" toys.

While the boys played nicely together downstairs, Marcia and I got ready for the day upstairs. Kyra was in the pack-n-play that belongs to Marcia and got her hands on my makeup bag. I come into the bedroom and there she is with my mascara...all over her lips and worse all over the bottom of the pack-n-play. I felt horrible she did that to something that doesn't belong to us, but Marcia was her great self and took it all in stride.

Of course, what kind of scrappers would we be if we didn't get pictures??

After getting ready and cleaning up the kid and the pack n play we went over to my friend April's house. I have known April since 8th grade when she moved to New Hampshire from New Jersey. We were thick as thieves in 8th grade, she was my best friend and I was so excited to meet up with her and some other friends we went to St. John's with.

Naturally, I was involved, so we didn't get there on-time, but lucky for us, no one else did either! April's house is amazingly beautiful and she had enough food to feed an army!

I was looking forward to seeing my old school friends Carianne and Nicole who I haven't seen since college and high school. It was sad that at the last minute Nicole was unable to come, but she is eight months pregnant and needed to unexpectedly bow out. I was disappointed for sure but I hope to see her on my next visit.

Carianne arrived with her two girls and her wife Cindy. A surprise guest, Patty (who also went to St. John's in 8th grade) arrived with her triplet boys.

All the kids played so great together, but my camera was full and about out of battery so I had to rely on Marcia and April to get some pictures for me. :)

And what photo session would be complete with out Vaughn posing?

Unfortunately, Marcia and the boys had to leave as she had prior plans with her Dad. I had such a fantastic visit with everyone and I know the kids all had fun playing together.

Marcia didn't pick me up until dark, but start to finish this vacation is starting out awesome!

That night we had tubby and story time. A tradition in the Hewey house, the boys get story before bedtime every night. So it was a good thing Marcia has a big bed, had to fit 3 adults and 4 kids!! Tonight's story as read by Marcia was Scooby Doo and the Rotten Robot. Vaughn was very interested as were her boys, but Kyra had a hard time being still and wanting to stay on the bed.

I love group story time! I don't blame Kyra for not being interested though. Scooby Doo is pretty boring IMO. I was so bummed about having to leave you, but I'm glad April kept you occupied and you had a great time. I'm hoping Nicole can make it next time too. Yeah, I guess I've relaxed a little after two kids. The mascara thing really didn't bother me. Hey, a girl can't leave the house without it. :)
