Here we are in the nice hot month of July. To start the month, Kyra started "chatting". She is quite the conversationalist and it is just so fun to watch her be so social at this age. Of course, I did most of the talking but I love that I was able to catch some of her expressions on video.
July 4th we had a lovely family outing at our friend Kristy's house. She and her husband hosted a nice BBQ and she lives close enough to Busch Gardens that we can see the fireworks when they go off. She and her husband also get fireworks to light off in the middle of their street. At Kristy's house she has a basketball hoop for her son, and Vaughn was very happy to play with it and shoot baskets. He did a great job actually getting the ball into the hoop.
Later in the evening when everyone was tired of being mosquito bait, we went inside and watched Kristy's son Alex, beat everyone at Wii games. He is 8 years old and quite the expert at the video games.
Alex was playing a Mario game with Todd, and Todd being such a good guy tried to teach Vaughn how to play. Probably a good thing we don't have one of these in the house, I would never hear the end of it!
Words could never accurately describe how proud I am of my son. Since his sister arrived he has been nothing but sweet and protective of her, not to mention a big helper to Justin & myself. He wants to hold her, kiss her and help me change her diaper. Don't get confused, he doesn't want to help by physically undoing the diaper or anything, but he likes to make sure I have a clean diaper, the wipes and he will throw the dirty diaper in the trash without prompting from one of us.

I placed Kyra on the play mat and I really wanted a picture of the two of them and Vaughn was more than happy to oblige me. Now every time I put her onto he mat, he wants to get under there too!
July 13th I took the kids over to see Justin's mom a.k.a. Granny. Vaughn was very excited to see her as it had been awhile since his last visit with her. She enjoyed visiting with both kids and thought Kyra was beautiful and she is right!
July 15, 2008 R.I.P. Tigger
Tigger was my sister's family cat. In the last 2 years they have had to say goodbye to four cats. Two of which had been in their family for more than 14 years. The last 2, including Tigger picture above became sick with very rare cat diseases. I know we will all miss him dearly.
Today we also experienced another loss. The loss of Justin's hair. He was trimming it and he went too far so he decided to shave it down to practically nothing, but not bald. He also shaved off his mustache and goatee. To say he looked weird would be an understatement. However, in fear of gettng shot, I will not be posting any pictures of him here! LOL.

I was supposed to go back to work today but I was still not emotionally or physically ready. I did however test the waters and bring Kyra to her first day of daycare. I of course, cried when I hit the parking lot but was that sadness I was leaving her or tears of exhaustion? Both.
July 22nd Kyra turned 2 months old. She is such a happy girl and seemingly over the colic.
I went back to work on Monday July 28th. It was nice to be back and catch up with my co-workers. They missed me...well almost everyone.
I still have not had any time to scrapbook which is discouraging as I would like to get to Kyra and Vaughn's stuff before they are off to college! I am resigned to the fact that I will never be up to date, and I'm ok with that.

What a great update on the month! I love the pictures. Especially the one of Vaughn using the Wii. That's about what I look like when trying to play video games. I also love the one of him look at Kyra in the play mat. That is precious. I didn't know you cried when you brought Kyra to daycare. No matter how many children you have, it's still difficult.
