May Part Deux

Sunday, May 25th

My parents came down to visit Kyra and to bring Vaughn home. My mother couldn't believe how much hair she had as apparently neither Heather or myself had much hair when we were born.

I asked Vaughn if he wanted to meet his sister and he shook his head no and went off to see my Dad. He finally came around, but his interest in her was very limited. I am sure it was a lot for him to digest.

Once again, we had to force my dad to hold a baby. He doesn't like holding them when they are this little "they break" so he says.

May 26th was our first day with both the kids as it was the Memorial Day Holiday. It was nice that Justin was home to help out. Vaughn was good with Kyra and was suprisingly not jealous at all. Of course, she slept most of the time he was awake but if I asked him to get a blanket or throw away a diaper he was all for it and so helpful. I am very proud of my big boy. I took this picture today, I thought the expression was hilarious.

This was Kyra's first follow-up appointment at the doctor's. I needed to take her to see if she gained her birth weight back. When she left the hospital she weighed
6 pounds 14 ounces. At this visit she weighed 7 pounds 3 ounces so we had to come back in a week for a weight check. Otherwise, her doctor says she is perfect. Like I needed him to tell me that!

Today Justin installed Vaughn's new big boy car seat. I had to upgrade him from the over the shoulder harness to a booster seat. The seat he had been using was too tight and I couldn't loosen it up any more. He was thrilled and we made a big deal about it so he would feel comfortable.

We also let Vaughn hold Kyra for the first time today. He loved it and kept asking later to hold her. I told him not anymore today but he could hold her again another time. He was very gentle with her and was a good listener on how to hold her.

Since bringing Kyra home, she has been suffering from colic in the middle of the night. Thankfully Justin has been home with me to assist with the late nights so I can get a little rest.

To close out the happenings in May, I leave with you a picture I took of Kyra on May 29th. She has a hard time falling asleep, and like Vaughn we found she likes to sleep on the boppy (I think it helps with gas). She just looks like a little angel.

A big boy seat for Vaughn! YAY! We still haven't moved Nicholas into one, but when Nathan isn't in the car we let him sit in Nathan's seat. You're right, she does look like an angel in that picture and it was nice of your DR to confirm that your baby is perfect. HA!
