This morning I had quite the scare and so did Justin! I woke up to my phone ringing at almost 8:00 a.m. It was Justin telling me that he had just been in a car accident and he needed me to take my time, but to come and pick him up.
He had been hit at 6:58 a.m. by a drunk driver on his way to work. He called me 15 times between the cell phone and the home phone. I can sleep like the dead (but so can he)! So he calls me and asks me to come and get him. He tells me he is fine but the car is totaled. I start to get a little upset but I know he is talking to me so I know he is ok.
I get the kids ready and make them some breakfast to go and we were out the door. I was not quite prepared for what I was going to see.
The car who hit him was already gone by the time we arrived but the police were still there directing traffic as the utility pole J's car hit had bent in half.
Once I took in the scene, I really wanted to cry and I am just SO grateful he was ok and able to walk on his own power. I feel he was being watched over because this could have been so much worse. Looking at the car, I am also thankful our kids were not in the car. Vaughn's car seat was located where the pole met the car. The car was full of glass, and they could have been seriously hurt.

Justin had taken this photo right after he got his camera out. The lens was completely smashed.
The at fault driver was arrested at the scene. I took Justin to the ER, where the kids were really little angels considering I hadn't thought to bring them something to do. ER released him for some rest with neck strain.
At this point, I am hoping that the guy who hit him had valid insurance (he provided a card, but sometimes it doesn't mean he was actually insured). We are insured, so we are covered regardless, but Justin suffered injury and property damage so we are hoping to recoup our losses.

I still can't believe this. He and you are so very lucky for so many reasons. I know the stress you went through was horrible, but he is still with you. Any word on what you'll receive to cover your expenses? How is J's neck?
OMG! Justin and you are really lucky. I hope he is doing fine now..
